75th Exchange: 186 Ukrainians Return Home from Russian Captivity
June 5, 2026
Ukraine’s 75th prisoner exchange since Russia’s full-scale invasion has brought 186 Ukrainians home — 185 military personnel and one civilian — freed from Russian captivity through negotiations conducted by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War under the mandate of the President of Ukraine.
The civilian had been held in Russian captivity since 2022.
Among those freed are soldiers from across Ukraine’s armed forces: the Naval Forces, Ground Forces, Air Assault Forces, Territorial Defense, Special Operations Forces, and Military Law Enforcement, as well as fighters of the National Guard of Ukraine and the State Border Guard Service.
More than half of those liberated today were captured in 2022, a portion of them during the defense of Mariupol. Among the freed defenders is a participant in the unique helicopter operation — the airlift to Azovstal. Those returning home fought on the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kyiv, and Kursk fronts.
The youngest of the freed defenders is 26 years old. The oldest is 62. Two officers are among those released today.
The United States and the United Arab Emirates are thanked for their assistance in organizing the exchange and facilitating the return of Ukrainians home.
All those freed will receive medical examinations, treatment, essential supplies, statutory payments, and rehabilitation and reintegration support following prolonged isolation in Russian captivity.
“The Coordination Headquarters continues its work to search for, document, and return every person held in Russian captivity,” the Headquarters stated.
🇺🇦 Slava Ukraini.
